Most unions have to submit annual financial statements to the US Department of Labor. These financial reports are called LM-2 forms, and they will tell you: when the next union election is, how many members the union has, the salaries of officers and staff, and more.
The statements for 2008 are now available online at http://erds.dol-esa.gov/query/getOrgQry.do.
For help finding your local, district or international and for help reading these statements, consult this page (http://www.uniondemocracy.org/Legal/getlm2s.htm) from the Association for Union Democracy website.
If you have further questions about the LM-2 reports for your union, call the Longshore Workers’ Coalition at 718-865-8782 or email marsha@lwcjustice.com.
