International Solidarity, News - - Posted on July, 7 at 2:42 pm

From the International Dockworkers Council:

Dear colleagues / Estimados compañeros / Chers collègues:

Our colleagues in the Port of Lisbon are on strike from 7-10 July:

The Port of Lisbon will totally stop any activity, and minimal services will be offered by the Ports of Setubal and Figueira da Foz.

The Draft Bill for the new Ports Law will be taken into Parliament for discussion tomorrow 7/8/09 and will the final vote on 23 July 2009.

Tomorrow there will be a demonstration that will gather most Portuguese port workers in front of the Parliament.

From IDC we are sending a letter to all members of the Portuguese Parliament, with a total of 230 urging the dialogue with the unions and stating our resolution from IDC to offer support to our Portuguese colleagues.

We will keep you informed about the development of the events and of future calls of solidarity we might need from all of you.
