Vincent Cameron, a member of ILA Local 1408 in Jacksonville, Florida, put together his own website on the contract extension proposal. Check it out!

Here are some excerpts:

Welcome to My ILA.info. This website was started by me Vincent S. Cameron as a source of information on the heels of the current contract extension and modification. While this is not and officially sanctioned ILA websited this is my site, your site, our site. Please don’t hesitate to contact me for ways to improve it or to add additional content.

About three (3) days ago ILA members began receiving contract packets in the mail. The packets where sent out reflecting the work product derived from the three contract sessions held between the ILA and the USMX (United States Maritime Alliance) in Orlando Florida. (…)

After reviewing the information in the contract packet and going to work on the docks the next day. It was clear to me that there was a lot of confusion surrounding this proposed contract extension and modification agreement. (…) I was asked to provide clarity locally and then realized that there needed to be some additional source of clarity presented to educate the ILA Longshoremen from Maine to Texas about this proposal. So much is riding on doing it right this time! (…)

Over the next few days, I will create both Youtube video and powerpoint side-by-side break down to educate you on what is being said and what is not being said.

I know you’re asking the question, what qualifies Me to give a breakdownon this proposal? I will build a page to outline my credentials in the ILA and the Labor moment as a whole but the short answer is that I’m a second generation Longshoremanwith 20 years in the crafta and trained on every peice of equipment longshoremen utilizes to load and unload cargo. I have served at various levels in the ILA as Delegate, Representative, Recording Secretary, Vice-president and President. I have negotiated several contracts and submitted numerous resolutions at the District and the International conventions and have a 82% ratification rate on the resolutions, which is quite an accomplishment in itself when dealing with the ILA at conventions! I outline this to say that I do my homework and now I will share with you my observations regarding this 2009 Contract modification and extension…
