TWIC card may cost you $150

After several years of debate, the government approved the Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC). They will start with longshore workers this year. It is unclear who will have to pay for the card and the licensing process. Unless the ILA demands that the employers pay, the rank and file may have to pay $150 for the right to continue working on the waterfront.

I really dont think the cost of the TWIC ccard is a problem with longshore workers, the problem seems to be mostly associated with prior convictions found in their back ground checks. My question is, where do we expect them to go. Longshore workers have come from all walks of life including all races and colors, now the TWIC card system affects us all. To all who have not been affected and have obtained a TWIC card, maybe we should leave our back doors open to allow our brothers a place to seek shelter and restock their needed supplies. I promise, that will be the first place they will look anyway.
